About Blackwell Band
Blackwell is a country music powerhouse; a group of gifted singer/songwriters and musicians comprised of Carey Blackwell, brother Danny Blackwell and singer/songwriter Braiden Turner. Their music is crossover heaven, a perfect blend of country rock, pop and haunting ballads.
As songwriters, they have that special ability to put into words, what many of us think and feel, but in a way that is fresh and original. The group’s amazing original material never fails to leave listeners inspired.
Songwriters and producers from Marc Jordan and John Capek to Nashville’s Fred Mollin have lent their support and encouragement.
Carey and Danny, raised in a musical family from Cochrane Ontario, have spent their lives making music, writing songs, recording and playing live. *Braiden, also from a musical family, calls herself a 'studio rat'. She has spent most of her young life writing and recording songs in her home studio
The group came together when Carey moved south to record. He hooked up with brother Danny and through mutual musical acquaintances met Braiden.
As musicians and singers Blackwell is unique. Carey is most likely one of the premier guitarists to emerge onto the world stage in a long while; Danny’s voice is a soaring instrument, powerful and compelling; Braiden’s gifts as a singer/songwriter and pianist round out the Blackwell sound.
The band is in the studio now recording their debut CD, arranged and produced by Carey.
Braiden is also the official spokesperson for the Canadian Red Cross RespectED program. Her song Black and Purple written with Breanne Lawrenson is the theme song of that program which has been designed to stop the abuse and violence of Bullying.
