Blackwell at the Richmond Fair - Saturday September 15th!!

Opening for Shane Yellowbird tomorrow night at the Richmond Fair - Saturday, September 15th, 2012! Downbeat is 8:30 PM. It's going to be a fabulous night. Join us there! Here are a few of the songs that we'll be singing!

Blackwell Rockin' the Fall Fairs!!

This has been an exciting five or six weeks for the band. We started the fall fair season out with concerts at the Navan Fair. It was a great night despite the torrential downpour! Everything was soaked...especially the band... but the sound techs rallied like the pros they are and had the stage ready for the David Wilcox show! Luckily by that time the rain had subsided and the night was beautiful!! Here are a few shots. Notice how far back on the stage we had to move to stay out of the rain!

We then began preparing for the back to back concerts at the Kinmount Fair in the Haliburton Highlands (two shows) and the Shawville Fair (two shows), where we opened for the great Terri Clark for a crowd of over 10,000 people. Both events were spectacular. Here is a shot of the Shawville Fair.

Tonight we're packing up and heading down the 401 to Beamsville tomorrow morning where we are headling the grandstand show tomorrow night 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM...and then Sunday afternoon we're at the Russell Fair.... 2:30 PM- 7:00 PM Whew! This is fun...ya ... gotta love country music!

Next week we're at the Richmond Fair (September 15th) opening for Shane Yellowbird! Show times 8:30-9:30 PM and 11:30 - 1:00 AM!

Navan Fair Rocked!!

Navan Fair was fantastic. It poured a beautiful rain! Sound equipment has a tough time in the rain but the soundmen got everything going again for David Wilcox.

Thank you to all of the Blackwell fans who came out to the show. We love you!!

Next comes the Kinmont Fair followed by the Shawville Fair where Blackwell opens for Terri Clark! WHOO HOO!

Navan Fair Tomorrow Night....August 10th!!

Hey everyone!

Join us tomorrow night at the Navan Fair! We're opening for the great David Wilcox.  Music starts at
9:00 PM.

We got cool new Blackwell swag...hats and t-shirts. We're looking forward to seeing all of our fans there!!

We are sending good wishes out to George Jones and hope that he recuperates quickly! We look forward to another date with him down the road.

How are we keeping ourselves busy lately? We're in the recording studio; we're writing songs; we're rehearsing the band for a very busy summer and fall.

Easter, 2012

It's Easter! The eggs are on the stove and the colouring is ready to go. I put a little vinegar in the water and never let the water boil - the eggs just simmer away for about an hour or so ...and there are no cracks! BUT, I did drop one egg getting them out of the carton.

Last night (Good Friday) Logan Miller,  one of my best friends, since Grade 3 was directing an Easter Musical at his church. The play was called The Choice and it was fabulous!! Three cheers for the cast and crew - it was perfect for Good Friday.

We also gave thanks to God for a member of the congregation - Helene Campbell - who was able to have a double lung transplant! YAY!!! A donor was found just in time. There is a long road ahead but we know that God is watching over her.

Today Carey is on his way home from Toronto, Danny is busy with his family getting ready for Easter and we're all happy little bunnies - looking forward to more recording this coming week.

Better Late Than Never!!!

Well it is definitely more than a week ago that we promised a new update. During the ensuing days alot has happened.

Carey got a new guitar and hid himself away in the recording studio. I forget the make but it is a cool shade of blue - I'll remember to ask him. Whatever it is - it is very beautiful and of course he sounds stupendous as usual.

Danny has been organizing our live show, and we have a few neat gigs coming up. We're playing at a new venue (new for us) in Renfrew called  Finnigan's Roadhouse on April 21st AND we're opening for country legend, George Jones on May 11 in the Pembroke Arena!! How chill is that!!!!! He Stopped Lovin' Her Today - George Jones!! So many of our friends and fans are joining us - can't wait for the 11th.

Braiden (that would be me), has written a new song to record in a couple of weeks and I'll be looking at the new pics from our latest photo session and putting them up on the blog.

Today we're in the studio - (I'll try to take a short video ) -recording some background vocals for another Carey original.
